SOME NNAAMMELDROPPING

Nakhee Sung, Jason Ramos and I went to a club called the Roxy on Sunset to see a free show and party of the British comedy duo The Mighty Boosh. Jason was driving so I had some time to look around - when I'm driving on Sunset I have to attend to the traffic mostly of course so this was some nice sightseeing. We noticed a small crowd at some movie theatre and there was The Fonz! Fonzy from Happy Days, that is, the actor's name is Henry Winkler. He was greyhaired. It's my second celebrity sighting so I took some photos through the window of the car.

Below there's the Viper Room, where poor River Phoenix died. They don't really have any interesting shows (rockbands are playing there) so I'm not sure if I'll be going in there.

The show at The Roxy was free but we were forced to pay 5 dollars for parking the car because finding a parking spot on or near Sunset is apparently quite difficult. There was a stubborn tree in the parking lot:

Because the Mighty Boosh has some really enthousiastic fans there was a line of apprx. 500 people in front of the Roxy. Which is not clear on this photo, but well.

We waited on a corner for more than one hour. There was this guy with a lightsaber waving for cars to make them go to 'his' private parking lot. It's his job.

While we were in line there was a small cameracrew interviewing the Mighty Boosh line. Jason got very excited because he recognized the woman, she's from a popular blog, Boing Boing, apparently. She passed us by and Jason shouted: 'She's from Belgium!', while pointing at me. Which made the woman go: 'She's from Belgium?!' and immediately I got a camera and a microphone put in my face. I'm not very good with cameras, at least not in front of them, so I kinda turned away, which made Jason point to Nakhee: 'And she's from Korea'. Nakhee also was camerashy so they ended up interviewing Jason. He was doing great on camera, the mini-documentary is not online yet at this point but we do hope Jason will be in it.

While in line Jason was perfecting his 'mad professor' look.

After more than one hour on this streetcorner we were told there was no chance in hell that we would get in to the party because the Roxy was already full. Apparently they'd been giving away wristbands and made some sort of guestlist so most of the people in line didn't get in anyway.

We went for a beer at The Rainbow Room instead. Guns 'n Roses used to hang out there and all these other rockbands from the 80's. It was really small, but the diner, that is attached to it, seemed very nice and spacious. I heard they've got great burgers. There was a Dutch couple complaining about another Dutch couple that they were on holiday with. I translated the conversation to Jason and Nakhee. On the tv screen at the counter the show '1000 ways to die' was on.
